Green Thumb Fever

It's kinda like cabin fever only I am getting VERY antsy to plant my garden. I have spent a good part of my extremely limited free time this week digging out my future garden, with my little "helpers." It started out pretty small, and quickly grew to size of my garage (well the width anyways). I even planted 70 little seedlings in one of those "indoor greenhouse" tray things, and I still need to do more. I have a couple little sprouts already! So far I have: Corn, green beans, big tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, those weird shaped yellow tomatoes, strawberries, pumpkins, and cucumbers. I still want to get bell peppers, green onions, zucchini, some herbs, and I am considering lettuce. I'm going to have veggies coming out of my you know what!!! I can't wait!

Tubes are in...

Stephen's "procedure" was a success and went very smoothly. There was no versed only gas to make him pass out for a couple minutes. And there was no screaming at all. I was so proud of my brave little buddy. They wheeled him away and not a peep from him. I'm not sure he really understood that we weren't going with him. I prepared myself for the non stop screaming for at least an hour, but he just laid in the bed snuggling his blankie and had the death grip on his little car they let him take with. Now I am on water in the ears patrol. I didn't even wash his hair during his bath today because I was so paranoid. A successful day :)

Big Day Tomorrow...

Finally after countless ear infections, my little buddy is getting tubes in his ears. I am very excited for no more ear infections and no longer needing to repeat myself 6 times every time I say something to Stephen. The doc said his hearing is comparable to walking around with your thumbs in your ears. So I am expecting the worst but hoping for the best tomorrow. Nothing to eat after midnight, then there is the anesthesia. Last time Stephen had this gas (for his tongue tied procedure) he woke up screaming for 2 hours. I bought some little presents for him to have after he wakes up, in hopes to avoid the non stop screaming. So everyone send some positive energy tomorrow around 8am.

Cancelled!!!

Guess who is "sick" again....Thats right, Stephen. Well, supposedly sick again. I got to daycare Monday morning and he starts coughing and crying. The cough had that dreaded baby seal bark to it, so he was immediately sent home by the daycare teacher. I hadn't planned on a three day weekend, but since I was getting paid for the holiday anyways, I wasn't to upset by it. He already had a doctor appointment scheduled the same day to follow up on the most recent ear infection. Of course we are home for an hour and he is back to normal, running around and bugging his sister by stealing her baby dolls. To make things better, the doctors office calls and cancels our appointment for some "emergency." Oh, and the dr is going on vacation so you will have to wait until next week--AWESOME!

Today I drop them off and the most random thing came out of Stephens mouth. Really I will pay some one $1,000 if their kid has ever said this to them: "Mommy, I have boogies in my ear. Not this one, only this one." WTF?! Can someone please diagnose this one for me? I think we are on the fast track to tube in the ears.

You know it wasn't a good day when...

...You walk into the daycare and you immediately get the look of "Oh thank god you are here!" from the teachers. Then the first thing out of the teachers mouth was "I was going to call you." Oh great what did he do? Stephen runs up to me and I immediately notice a busted lip, and he's not wearing what he went to school in. WTF happened here? It all looked much worse than it was. He tripped over another kids foot and fell, resulting in the busted lip. So why the change of clothes? Well that was a whole other story. Stephen started a new antibiotic last night for the ear infection mentioned yesterday. Apparently he had a minor side effect----explosive diarrhea. It gets better. The poop is interesting colors too. The doctor warned me about that one, but I forgot to mention that to the daycare this morning. Opps! Needless to say they were pretty surprised. Poor guy, enough is enough already!

More Antibiotics!!

Stephen hasn't even been off his antibiotics from pneumonia for a week and we were right back at the doctors office again. This time it is an ear infection, AGAIN. This is number 3 or 4 in nearly 8 months. Needless to say it is probably time to have the tubes in the ears chat with the doc. Poor guy. He has a pretty good tolerance for pain because by the time he complains of pain, his eardrum is about ready to rupture. Either that or his infections go from 0 to 10 in a matter of hours. I really would like to make it an entire month without a trip to the doctor. It is only February 2nd and we have been to urgent care 3 times already this year. Enough already!!!

A new year... A new life

It's been quite some time since the last post. I actually just spent the last half hour resetting passwords and trying to log on (I couldn't remember usernames and passwords). So whats new in the Donchess house? Well first off... I kept the last name Donchess after the divorce was final. I went back and forth about that for a long time and ultimately decided that I wanted to have the same last name as my kids. The divorce was final on December 4th as planned, no suprises thank God.

The holidays were pretty hectic. I thought I would have had a hard time surviving my first holiday season as a single mom, but it went off without a hitch. Maybe it was that I didn't really have time to even think about it. There was about 5 days straight of non stop festivities. By far the best Christmas I've had, I'm sure that was because the kids had so much fun and were really into it. We spent New Years up north in Leetopia. I have some pretty funny pics from NYE but I doubt my family members would approve off putting those pics up for the world to see.

January is almost over and all I feel like I've done this whole month is take kids to the doctor and as a result missing quite a few days of work. Thankfully my job is very understanding and flexible. It all started January 2nd.... A trip to Marshfield Urgent Care. Aria decided to ring in the new year with a case of the croup. She is still coughing and I believe she is the reason that there was 3 cases of Bhronchitis, 2 of pnuemonia, and 1 walking pnuemonia at the daycare. I think she infected everyone. So that brings us to this week, guess who got pnuemonia??? Thats right---Stephen. I am seriously thinking I should take Aria back to the dr for a chest x-ray too. She shouldn't be coughing from croup still.

Aria is now in a big girl bed, and doing great. She made the switch much easier than Stephen ever did. Only a couple days of getting out of bed a few times and that was it. Piece of cake. Next step is potty training.

Thats all for now...Someone near me stinks :)
